Mr. Đặng Phú Vinh, also known as "Mr. Ken," is an International Music Director as well as a Solo and Orchestral Oboist. He came to Vietnam to teach, lecture, conduct and perform music after spending many years studying professionally in countries such as America and Singapore on full scholarships (including tuition fees, insurance, travel, books, meals and board).
He was a lecturer in the Hochiminh City Conservatory of Music's musicology department in Hochiminh City, Vietnam. Currently, he is giving music and English private lessons and classes, including oboe, flute, drumset, music theory, music history, music composition, music appreciation, music harmony and structures, ABRSM grade 1 to diploma, music conducting; English for music study, Effective English Communication, and TOEFL and IELTS preparations.
Awards
Summer 2007, he was granted a title "Outstanding student" (one of 103 from 10 Asian countries) and Scholarship by Asian Youth Orchestra (AYO). For International Festival which held in Hong Kong, China, and Japan.
Sumer 2007, Mr. KEN won a scholarship by Canton International Summer Music Academy (CISMA) for International Festival in Canton, China.
Spring 2007, a "Student Artistic Development Grant" was given to him from Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music (National University of Singapore, NUS).
Spring 2008, Mr. KEN got a "Career Development Grant" from Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University, in America.
Spring 2010, the Division of Music in Creative Arts Center in West Virginia University awarded Mr. KEN a "Student Travel Grant", in America.
Summer 2010, "Global Education Opportunity Grant" from West Virginia University GEO Committee.
Summer 2010, "Student International Travel Grant" from Division of Music, Creative Arts Center, West Virginia University.
Summer 2010, Mr. KEN earned a title "Oboe Artist" granted by Hochiminh City Ballet & Symphony Orchestra And Opera, Hochiminh City , Vietnam.
Working Experiences
Mr. KEN has been performing orchestral and solo music concerts since 1999 in Hochiminh City, and overseas.
2007, the Asian Youth Orchestra brought him to perform with its orchestra to concert tour in Hong Kong, China, and Japan.
2008, the Hochiminh City Ballet & Symphony Orchestra And Opera invited him from America to perform with its orchestra in Tokyo in Japan.
2009-11, Mr. KEN was working as Music Conductor and Oboist with The Symphonic Band in Waynesburg University, Pennsylvania, America.
2010, while he was in America, Mr. KEN was invited to perform solo concert with Hochiminh City Ballet & Symphony Orchestra And Opera for "Autumn Melody concert" in Hochiminh City, Vietnam.
For his teaching, he conducted several Master Classes to Bachelor and Master students in America, especially in West Virginia Unviersity.
2011, Mr. KEN came to Vietnam to teach at Singapore International School as International Music Teacher. Here, he taught classes in all grades from kindergarten (2 year-old) to middle school.
Same year, he had a contract with ACG International School to conduct parents choir.
Besides, he performed with the Hochiminh City Ballet & Symphony Orchestra And Opera as guest oboist.
2013, Mr. KEN was invited to be International Music Director of NationalHigh Jakarta School, Jakarta, Indonesia.
During the time in Indonesia, the All Jakarta Honor Orchestra invited him to join its orchestra as a Music Director.
Same year, Mr. KEN also worked as guest principle Oboist for The Aula Simfonia Orchestra, Jakarta, Indonesia.
2014, Mr. KEN conducted The Youth Orchestra in Hochiminh City for UNICEF event, Hochiminh City, Vietnam.
2014 - 18: Mr. KEN has been lecturing History of Western Music in the Musicology Department of Hochiminh City Conservatory of Music, Hochiminh City, Vietnam.
2015, he was invited to conduct The Bridge winds ensemble.
Summer 2016 - 17, Mr. KEN conduct music in the Soul Tune summer camp at Canadian International School, Hochiminh City, Vietnam.
Up to date, Mr. KEN often joins musical events in overseas countries while giving lectures and seminars in musical field.
Mr. KEN is interested in more than just teaching and performing. He is enthusiastic about working with both music major and non-music major students. He is always happy to cooperate with those who have a passion for music and love. He welcomes volunteers for his projects.
